What’s the Difference Between Cut Pile and Essex Carpet?
At Factory Interiors, we offer two primary carpet materials designed to deliver a factory-style finish or a premium feel upgrade—Cut Pile and Essex.
Standard Cut Pile Material
- Cut Pile is our standard carpet and floor mat material, constructed of 14oz nylon yarn tufted to 1/8 gauge density.
- It replicates most factory-installed carpets from mid-1970s onward.
- Cut Pile is available in the widest range of OEM-matching colors.
Essex Material Upgrade
- Essex is a super plush version of Cut Pile with a height of 3/8 inch vs. 1/4 inch for standard Cut Pile.
- Features 40% more nylon fiber density for a luxurious feel and added durability.
- While Essex may not always match factory colors exactly, it offers an excellent choice for restomods or premium restorations.
- Available for most carpet kits and floor mats, in a variety of color tones.
